How do I pay 2nd and 3rd shift employees?

Are there any laws that state employees should receive more base pay for working night shifts or other odd hours?

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) states that base pay shift differentials are strictly the employers’ choice. However you should check your state's wage and hour laws just in case.

How do I know if the employee handbook is current?

If you don’t have a dedicated HR professional or access to all the legal updates and or if you are creating a manual from scratch, you may want to consider a lawyer to review each time you make modifications. It is recommended to update the entire handbook at least every two years.
